The Disruption Complex

Image
Those who disrupt their industries change consumer behavior, alter economics and transform lives-Heather Simmons.  Disruption seems to be the new hyped up word right after the word entrepreneurship. It is defined as disturbance or problems which interrupt an event, activity,or process. In this fast paced constantly evolving world, being disrupted can spell out the closing down of a business whereas being the disrupter can mean the exponential growth of the business. However, like everything else in business there has to be a catch. For one to keep up the disruption trajectory, innovation must be integral to the working in and for the business. For instance, Amazon has caused pain for a lot of companies with its disruptive business model. The company is known for shaking up entire industries with its malleable e-commerce platform, which has disrupted brick-and-mortar retail, groceries, and even the insurance industry. Amazon has created a curated assortment of both product and expectations,w

White Lies

Image
'White lies keep social dignity intact and are far more prevalent than most people realize.' Several studies have found that an average person is lied to from 10 to 200 times a day-mostly just to keep a conversation going,to avoid conflict or establish a connection with someone. Little white lies are part of every day life. If you are in court being charged with a felony, you're probably going to be tempted to lie. If your girlfriend asks you if the sweater she is wearing makes her look fat, you're going to hide some form of truth by not stating that in reality it is not the sweater that makes her look fat but rather her eating habits. If your boyfriend asks you what you think of his sleeping habits, you might leave out the part where you can't sleep because of his snoring. There are different reasons and justifications to lie,it's human nature. White lies are minor or benign falsehoods that blend in to the fabric of reality to make it easier to savor, build and

Know Thyself

Image
'To know thyself is the beginning of wisdom' Socrates. According to him, people make themselves appear ridiculous when they are trying to know obscure things before they know themselves. Plato also alluded to the fact that understanding Thyself, would have a greater yielded factor of understanding the nature of a human being. As human beings we tend to overlook quite a number of things,it is however, important to note that this is not our fault. It has taken quite a number of years, perhaps even millions of years, for our brains to develop this far. We are continuously evolving and this action has its ups and downs. The ancient subconscious mind controls most of our activities and perceptions. For example no matter how courageous and well prepared we might be for a public address,we still portray nervousness tendencies like hiding away our hands or avoiding eye contact and on a deeper level feel butterflies in our stomachs or a chill go down our spines. To show this, how well do

The Primal Advantage

Image
Ever wondered why human beings are the most dominant species on the planet? By this I also need to clarify which kind of humans, the mainstream ones, just like you and me. The indigenous tribes however, are endangered because they have refused to give in to the ever changing human society and eventually might be faced out. There has been so many still, indigenous tribes or races that have gone extinct. Humor me for a minute and think about this, when you are with a group of friends or acquaintances who happen to know so much about football and you don't,you are forced to either adapt by learning about football or you are pushed out of that group either because you will never meet them again or because you don't feel obligated to prove a point to them by learning of their interests. In this case if you choose to leave the group, chances are you develop your own interests with people who share the same sentiments thus a rift caused by this decision. Depending on the demands of your c

The Silent Thriver

'With great power comes great responsibility'. This is a quote that is believed to have been conceptualized by Voltaire and later on emphasized by Uncle Ben, Parker or as we know him Spider-man's legal guardian. What's my point you might ask, well let me explain. Humor me for a moment and think about this,a domesticated dog is a cute animal to some,a best-friend to others and a helper to others. However,it has taken years of domestication, adaptability and in some cases in-breeding to end up with our final product,a dog that can take instructions and is scared of cats.At times I tend to think that we haven't done this animal much justice considering that it is a direct descendant of the wolf,I might not know much but I haven't seen a zoo that keeps a wolf, it might not be as powerful as a lion physically but a wolf can only be compared to an eagle,it takes no crap from anyone and never apologizes for its existence and nature. I digress, back to our modern dog,

The Disconnect

Image
Life is a compromise and to accept it on these terms is to add onto your peace of mind. Compromise,Tolerance and Opinions will be our main subjects of discussion today. There is so much good in the worst of us and so much bad in the best of us,after all you don't encounter angels on this plane of existence and if you did you probably wouldn't know for instance in the scriptures of the bible Jacob fought with an angel of God. Despite the nature of a man he is entitled to his own opinion and tolerance is to respect this opinion without believing or sharing in it. After all a respect for another's point of view will always enlarge yours. As Voltaire once said "I do not agree with a word you say,but I will defend to the death your right to say it." Tolerance is a true relationship between situations on an impersonal bases. As young kids we accepted that our parents were our alphas and omegas. For instance on the fourth month of a baby,it begins to recognize its mot

Perks of Responsibilities

Being the first born son in a home of three boys basically meant being the experimental child in the family and ultimately being the child that my parents wanted to live their unfulfilled dreams through. This then meant that I carried so much expectations from all sides of my family, there was no tolerance of error and not even a smudge of leniency when it came to discipline administration. In other words I survived some tough love, for my mom I was a beacon of hope for the continuity of her generation and to my dad I was an investment that would pay off when I started working and they had retired as for my extended family well it was another loss because had I been born a girl that would be a rather handsome dowry payment when it came to the right time. In my head I was an overwhelmed child just like every other child whose parents or guardians wanted him to do something he had no interest in,I dreamt of being a pilot whereas my father wanted me to be a doctor but being my mother's
