The Gandhi Complex

It is amazing how as human beings we find our way easily in the ocean of receiving but get lost in the paddle of giving. In the course of our day to day lives we make demands of a product,of a fellow colleague,of our friends and family and generally we make demands from life itself. However, time and again emphasis has been placed on the importance of giving especially by religious leaders. In the Christian book of faith,it is written that the followers should give without judging or question because their reward is in heaven and if they only give to those they expect to get a return from, the favor returned automatically cancels out their reward from The Almighty. At the end of the day what counts the most is the thought. I have come across dating shows that in my opinion seem peculiar ladies on one hand seem to want financially stable gents while the gents seem to want a light skin lady who has that extra body for some reason,in light of all of these demands I could not shake the question; What would either one of them bring to the table?I,however, need to say that I appreciate the fact that it is the responsibility of the man to take care of a woman and it also is an obligation for a woman to look great for the man and have his back when the whole world does not believe in him or is against him.
Mahatma Gandhi, the guy who led a peaceful revolution against the government for human rights violation using the power of the human waste, once famously stated that 'To find yourself you have to lose yourself in the service of others' Initially I had thought of ending this article here but the more I interacted with people the more I realized the importance of elaborating it further.
Now back to the world of dark suits and white shirts to connect these dots to our day to day lives as business executives and strategists. In today's fast paced changing world companies are spending millions if not billions of shillings trying to woe new clients instead of spending it on the old existing clients to incentivise  them to spread the word out to attract new business. I will give an example,Company X had a 10 million shillings marketing budget for the year 2016 and out of their campaigns they earned 5 million shillings more in profits that year from new business,Company Y on the other hand, had a 10 million shillings budget to entertain, interact and meet with their clients throughout the year in a less formal  setting, out of the 50 clients,40 clients brought in two more clients each with a spending capacity of 3 million shillings and at the end of the year they made an increase of 20 million shillings in profit. Based on the numbers Company Y won that year's battle and if they continue on that same trajectory they are bound to out-grow Company X.
This example takes us back to the giving and receiving philosophy,it works like a charm in business and in our day to day lives and it is based on one principal the desire of increase is inherent in all nature that is to say that In business if the client gets the impression that you are out to fundamentally grow him or her they will conspire to grow you as a company thus spawning interdependence and increasing profitability for the company while improving the quality of life of the client through either superior products or services or a combination of the two.
